Getting There

This walk was organised and led by me as a private walk: Drive under Barry Drive along Frith Rd to the back of CSIRO.

Walk

A pleasant wander whilst my better half was on matinee stage at the Street Theatre, and so as I don't look a fool as the WBB draws to a close in a fortnight's time.

From the end/corner in Frith Rd, down the side fence of the National Botanic Gardens and out across the bare paddock between it and CSIRO, across Clunies Ross St and right onto the bike path. At the next corner bear left along side the slip road and down to Sullivans Creek. Go under Parkes Way then up the stairs to cross Sullivans Creek on the lake side. Follow the bike path along the edge of the lake and the sculpture garden to come out at the end of the NMA car park. No doubt we'll be glad to be here in a fortnight's time.

I then wandered up Lennox Crossing, along Liversidge St and left into Ward Rd. A very pleasant time, with all the old buildings and quiet streets. Down to the corner of Wards Rd opposite the South Oval, which brought back unpleasant memories from 40 years ago when I was at ANU. Past all the Halls and Colleges to Bruce Hall for a squizz around - pleasant memories here. Back to Ursula's corner and up to Clunies Ross St, across and into the Botanic Gardens for refreshments. To the CSIRO gate in the side fence to discover it locked, back out the front gate, up the side fence, a wander around in CSIRO and back to the car.

Distance: 8.7km  Climb: 150m.  Time: 1.10 - 2.50pm (call it 1.75hrs).
Grading: S/E,X; E(5)
