Getting There

This walk was organised and led by Jenny and Rob H as a CBC walk:

Saturday 14 August: Rendezvous Creek cross-over – M/R. Nursery Creek car park, top end Nursery Swamp, Rendezvous Creek, Boboyan Road near Gudgenby River. This is usually a very popular trip with a car shuttle. Map: Rendezvous Creek 1:25,000. Leaders: Jenny and Rob H. Transport: ~$40 per car.

We left the Nursery Swamp car park at 8.30am and ambled up the Nursery Swamp Walking Track. The plan was to do a loop across to Rendezvous Creek. Confirmed where Rob likes to take off the track to head to the footpad to Rendezvous Creek - at a felled burnt tree which used to contain a wild bees' nest just before a hard left turn in the track. A nice wander down the side of the swamp, the low cloud clearing to a beautiful day. I had the W-G sites NA34 Nursery Swamp stockyard and NA35 Rock shelter, but nothing at the locations (will need to come back to do a proper search).

Turned W up the drainage line a the S end of the swamp and headed up towards the saddle between SH1337 and Nursery Hill. Along here a party member collided with a branch and by morning tea time 100m from the saddle there was much blood and an ugly leg puncture. We all appreciated Rob taking authority - the wound was dressed, no thought of splitting the party and we all headed back.

A lunch stop at the saddle in the NSWT where it starts to go down to the Orroral Valley.

Home early. Thanks Rob and Jenny. Ably navigated by Dan and Phillip. Good company from Cynthia, Peter, Peter and Tom.

The result - three internal stitches and 10 external stitches with 10 days off work with no pressure at all on his leg.

Distance: 15km Climb: 475m. Time: 8.30am - 2.05pm (call it 5 and a half hours), with 1hr of stops.
Grading: M/M
