Getting There

This walk was organised by Stan M and led by Phillip S and Edwina Y as a CBC walk:

Saturday 25 June - Faunce Hill - M/E. Faunce Hill is on the eastern side of the Queanbeyan River gorge on the northern end of Googong Dam. The walk is a mixture of on and off track, starting at the end of Wanna Wanna Rd (off Captains Flat Rd) thence through open forest to the Hill and south to lunch on an open ridge before wandering back to the cars. Plenty of variety and good views including Gingera and Bimberi. About 5½ hours walking. Map: Hoskinstown. Leader: Phillip S. Transport: ~$40 per car.

16 of us met at the Wanna Wanna Rd turnoff on the Captains Flat Rd. We then drove on to the locked gate on Wanna Wanna Rd and turned a little way SW along an access track to park.

Track

I've never before walked in this area. A very pleasant round, organised by Stan M and ably executed by Phillip S and Edwina Yee.

We wandered along fire trails and off-track through lovely open forest, up hill and down dale. A great bunch of people with many a tale to tell and some good advice for me. Some interest in up-coming events and walks.

A wonderful bridge, on private property, over Deep Creek.

Many thanks to Phillip S and Edwina Y for taking over from the injured Stan M, so we could all enjoy the walk. Wonderful company from old and new friends Tania A, Chris F, Di G, Nathan H, Stephen and Lisa M, Richard and Jenny N, Therese P, Richelle R, Sally T, Barbara T and Claire v d G.

Distance: 15km Climb: 600m. Time: 8.50am - 3.15pm (6hrs 25mins), with 55mins of breaks.
Grading: L/E-M; M(10)
