Getting There

This walk was organised and led by Brendan K as a CBC walk:

Saturday 2 July - Split Rock - L/M. From the Orroral Valley we walk along Cotter Hut Rd and AAWT to Cotter Gap. We then climb for 1 km through thick regrowth to the amazing Split Rock (in Cotter Rocks). 21 km mostly on tracks with a 650 m climb. Maps: Corin Dam and Rendezvous Creek Leader: Brendan K. Transport: ~$40 per car.

13 of us met at Lanyon Shops and drove to the Orroral Valley tracking station car park. A quick stop at the NVC to say hello to Edwina and her gang gathering for Mt Tennent and Bushfold Flats.

Further Information

Ask Brendan if I can just duck into the weather station.

A very pleasant trip. As a member of the party, all care-no responsibility, TiB-MiN walking. A chance to ground-truth the weather station on the side of the Cotter Hut Road. A slight touch of snow at Cotter Gap and a little more round the back of Split Rock on the S side. I guess the next time I'm through here will be on the 24-hr walk.

A good trip, thanks Brendan. Thanks everyone for your company.

Distance: 19.4km Climb: 700m. Time: 8.55am - 4.20pm (7hrs 25mins), including 50mins of breaks.
Grading: L/M; H(12)
