A while since I'd been here, last on 19 Dec 06. The bush has certainly grown up a bit since then.

From the main camping ground car park, we went along the Orroral Ridge Road (fire trail) for a couple of hundred metres, then left onto the old fire trail which goes down to cross a creek. This is the fire trail that goes up to the tanks on the knoll.

At the appointed place on a corner of the fire trail, a footpad heads sort of straight ahead. The location is approximately GR 79069-59907 (MGA94) on the Corin Dam 1:25000 topographic map. It's well worn now and takes you 600m S to an open frost hollow which is obviously a well used camping area. There's a funny pointed rock and a stone ringed fireplace there and the area would be a lovely camp site. I'd sort of forgotten about this footpad, so I've documented it here.

From here, it's generally SW to climb up round to the back of The Spinnaker. There's a granite band on the way up that requires a tiny scramble under the huge overhang and a little care in the wet. Came in the back entrance to The Spinnaker, make our way down to the top of the granite and enjoyed the view during morning tea.

Reversed out.

A very pleasant short walk which beat the showers. Thanks Rob, and Anna, Jenny and Jon.

Distance: 4.2km Climb: 400m. Time: 8.35 - 11.30am (call it 3hrs), with 25mins of stops.
Grading: S/R; M(9)
