Walk Description

This 'walk' was organised and led by me as a CBC short-notice walk:

Saturday 12 January: Bike Ride around Lake Burley Griffin

With 37°C forecast for Saturday and NNP possibly closed, my Cheyenne and Morass Flats walk has been postponed. Let’s do an early morning ride instead, from Weston Creek around Lake Burley Griffin. All on bike paths. Around 40km or shorter. Transport: Drive yourself to meet at 6am at the underpass at the intersection of Hindmarsh and Streeton Drives Weston, or 7am at the bridge in Commonwealth Park where Nerang Pool empties into LBG. All over by 9.30am. No need to book. Leader: John Evans 0417 436 877 john@johnevans.id.au.

Track Notes

Check out the record from the MotionX-GPS app on my iPhone. Very good little app.

I learned a lot on this event:

1. Riding with these people is like walking with me. Man, I was bringing up the rear
2. Everyone except me was in lycra - I wore my bushwalking clothes
3. Karen is the same whether walking or riding - always wants to stop and eat (thanks for the coffee); talks most of the time
4 I learned how Tour de France male riders relieve themselves without stopping - but was not allowed to try it
5 I have some great friends!

Summary

Distance: 57.3km Climb: 343m. Time: 5.40 - 9.30am (3hrs 50mins). Riding time of 2hrs 50mins.
