Walk Description

This walk was organised and led by me as an irregular CBC Tuesday walk:

Tuesday 22 January: Snowy Flats Creek top cascades L/E-M. Walk up the newly cleared track from Corin Dam to Stockyard Spur at the helipad. Follow the Stockyard Spur vehicle track to near the Mt Franklin Rd intersection. Bend south down through open forest, then east-ish along the side of Snowy Flats to the cascades just below the lip of the flats. Loll about for a while (the water is 1cm deep, so I'll be cool (grin)), enjoying brunch. Return the same. Around 15km and 900m climb. Map: Corin Dam. Limit: 12. Leader: John Evans - john@johnevans.id.au, 0417 436 877. Transport: ‾$6 per person.

Track Notes

An unremarkable ramble up the Stockyard Spur Walking Track, morning tea on the slabs that look across to Mt Ginini, along the vehicle track to ‾400m E of the Mt Franklin Rd intersection, then down to the cascades on Snowy Flat Creek, just below the lip of the Flats. Persistent March flies made the breaks a little less pleasant than they could have been.

Nice to meet Sean after we'd exchanged a few emails. Jenni brought a big pack and lots of weight, training for Kokoda.

Summary

Distance: 14.7km Climb: 900m. Time: 8.10am - 1.35pm (5hrs 25 mins), with 45mins of breaks.

Grading: L/E-M; M(11)

Walk Participants

Mike B, Karen C, Jenni C, Stewart J, Richard M, Sean S, Ian W, me.
