An interesting route with a high outcrop and associated panorama. A short car shuttle is needed. Maps: Williamsdale & Corin Dam. Leaders: Jenny & Rob H. Transport: $30 per car.

12 of us drove from Canberra via Apollo Rd in 3 cars. We put two of the cars at the Honeysuckle Creek camping ground and returned to the Mt Tennent Fire Trail car park on Apollo Rd.

Track Notes

A lovely day. The puff up the first hill soon had thermals and layers off. Easy, then deteriorating, going to morning tea. A couple of our party turned back. A bit slow around the 1300+m knoll and I'm not sure that we found the balcony of last time. Peter and Linda came in a bit higher and had the view all over us. But the views over NNP and down over the Honeysuckle Creek area are huge. An early lunch. Mobile phone coverage (Telstra 3G) from the knolls, as keys and shoes were left in the car of the early departees.

From SH1364, SW to the track to the tanks (this track is shown on the 1st edn Corin Dam 1:25000 map). The descent is steep and a bit scrubby from the 1300m contour down to the track.

Rob and I agreed that the bush is a bit thicker than last time on 12 Oct 11.

Back on the Orroral Ridge Rd it was suggested that we go up to the former Honeysuckle Creek Tracking Station site. Excellent, as I'd never taken the time to poke about up here.

A great day wandering up and down the knolls with good friends.
