Walk Description

This walk was organised and led by Terence U as a CBC walk:

Monday 10 June: Mt Tennent Challenge (Part 3) - L/M-R. The challenge is to climb Mt Tennent with a laden pack by four different routes over four weeks. Each week we will increase the difficulty of the route and the weight of our packs. From Apollo Road, we will climb steeply to the summit along a spur line to the south of the trig point. Return to the cars will be via Tennent Fire Trail. ~13 km + ~800 m ascent, on an off-track negotiable route through scrub and a fire trail. Suggested pack weight ~14 kg. Meet in the visitor centre carpark at 8.00 am. No need to book. Map: Williamsdale. Leader: Terence U. Transport: Drive yourself.

4 of us meet at the appointed time and place.

Track Notes

With showers forecast and our leader still not 100%, we were kindly offered a choice of routes. I was glad that the 'up and down the AAWT' was chosen as I'd entered into the spirit of the walk and had 15.8kgm of water and weights on my back.

In the end, no showers. Breezy at the top. The sun came out for 2 minutes.

An amazing number of people on the track, maybe 30.

Always a good walk and I learn something new every time I walk with living legends like Terence.

Left my phone and GPS in the car, so no techno records.

Summary

Distance: ~14.5km Climb: ~800m. Time: ~8am - ~1pm (~5hrs), ~25mins of breaks.

Grading: L/E; M(9)
