Walk Description

This walk was organised and led by Janet E as a BBC/NPAACT/CBC Wednesday walk:

Wednesday 11 December: Bushfold Flats with a Christmassy Lunch - S/E. 10 kms 100m climb on well made tracks. Hi! It's that time again when Plum Puddings, Brandy Sauce, tree decorations and other Christmassy Goodies go out to the bush and sometimes Men dressed not in Black but red and white accompany us! So I invite all walkers who have participated in our Wed walks this year to come on a Christmas Lunch Walk. Please meet at Kambah by 8.30 am and then we drive to the Booroomba Rocks Car park, after leaving a car or two near the gate at the top of the walking track from Bushfold Flats. From Booroomba Rocks car park walk down the shaded and well defined track and along to the dam - a suitable place to enjoy a Christmassy Lunch. So please bring goodies/drinks that you can share, as well as some lunch for yourselves. As usual I’ll bring a couple of plum pudds and if anyone else can do that, it would be nice (otherwise some may miss out!). After lunch continue walking in the Bushfold Flats area, passing the old shed and then up That hill. The drivers will then return to Booroomba Rocks c’pk and get their cars. Passengers need to wait at the gate. Weather should be warmish and we may be back at the cars by about 3ish unless we all fall asleep! Leader: Janet E. Maps: Corin Dam and WIlliamsdale. Transport costs $10.

  • Walkers who are not members of the BBC, NPA or CBC must contact the walk leader before the walk, to discuss the level of difficulty of the walk. (Please note that walk leaders retain the right not to accept any walker.)
  • Non-members must be accompanied by a sponsoring member.

25 of us drove from Canberra, leaving some cars at the Mt Tennent Fire Trail car park and then driving on to the Booroomba Rocks car park. Max and I travelled independently in my car, as we needed to return quickly to town.

Further Information

For Tuesday walkers, if you'd like a little more or a little less, I could organise that and we could meet with the Wednesday walkers for lunch. Contact me.

Track Notes

Janet kindly allowed me to join in on my terms, as I had obligations back in town. So Max and I drove out in my car to Booroomba Rocks car park.

A very pleasant stroll down the AAWT to the dam near the S end of Bushfold where we had lunch and shared goodies. Santa visited.

Some nice flowers about, including a green hooded orchid that Mike M pointed out on the way in, but that I couldn't find on the way out.

Max and I had to leave after a quick lunch and we walked back to the car. The others walked out the Mt Franklin Fire Trail back to Apollo Rd.
