Track Notes

“More haste, less speed” is a common proverb. For me it should be ‘less haste and less speed’.

I finished work around 9.15am and, since I was in the area, had a little walk in Valour Park and logged GC5JQQ5 Valour Park.

On the way home I called in to the flanks of Mt Taylor and logged GC1MNK7 Neighbourly Neighbours – Mt Taylor. So I now have all 6 values to determine the final GZ, somewhere out in Namadgi National Park.

So home and too quickly gathered a couple of caches around Gibraltar Peak. Didn’t read the detail, so took no spoiler photos.

Drove to TNR and the Dalsetta car park (the old Education Centre that was burned in 2003). Wandered up the (new) Gibraltar Peak Trail.

Could not find GC761CA Gibraltar Granite I – Warm up without the spoiler pic (although I note the last logged attempt couldn’t find it with the spoiler!).

Without a location map I couldn’t determine which was the next, so went to GC761CM Gibraltar Granite III – Tight Squeeze. Found and logged.

Next to GC761CV Gibraltar Granite IV – Grand Finale for another find and log. Nice granite. Many white lines ….

Then up to the crest and over the other side for GC5PKT4 Two Towers. Spent quite a while looking, to no avail. Finally cranked up my phone (needs a battery pack when cold), got onto geocaching.com and looked at the spoiler. Easy with that. My GPSr had settled 9m away. A quick find and log. Lunch.

Continued down to Mushroom Rock. Over 10 years since I was last here on 1 May 07. No joy without the spoiler. No joy with mobile access to the spoiler.

Returned up the hill and had a look at the view from Gibraltar Peak. Showed a couple of girls the top viewing area.

On the way down, called in to GC761CE Gibraltar Granite II – More views. Much luck sans spoiler and a find and log.

A lovely sunny day with a gentle breeze, quite a change after a few days of rain and very strong wind.

Great company, thank you John 😆 .
