Tom Rolleys Hut site

Tom Rolleys Hut site is located on the west side of the Naas Valley Fire Trail between river crossings 4 and 5 in the Namadgi National Park.

Location: GR 55H FA 88251-45691 (MGA94), Michelago 8726-4S 1:25000. The bed is at GR 55H FA 88236-45632 (MGA94).

• KHA Namadgi database (private source). Site 321. Tom Rowley built a hut here in the early 1970s for shelter during stockwork.  It was constructed of corrugated fibro, but had no fireplace.  Still standing in 1978, the hut has now collapsed.

• Gudgenby: A register of archaeological sites in the proposed Gudgenby National Park, J H Winston-Gregson MA thesis, ANU, 1978. Site YA3. Corrugated asbestos fibro sheeting on sawn timber frame. Poor condition; notable for lack of hearth. See extracts of the relevant pages in the photos above.
