• From Signage on the TNR Church Rock Heritage Loop: “Rayner’s saw mill was in operation from 1919. Operations ceased after the 1939 bushfires. The timber from brown barrel (Eucalyptus fastigata), was used for Canberra’s houses, bridges and the Tharwa Hall. Sawn tree stumps and remains of the mill can be seen near the Red Hill Trail.”
